The Nhill Free Press, Tuesday, February 12 1895 The Lorquon Juvenile Exhibition The above exhibition was held on Wednesday and Thursday, the 6th and 7th February, in the Lorquon Mechanics Institute, and, combined with a sale of gifts and other attractions, proved very successful. The Misses Dufty and Dreher, with Mr. Williams, were appointed judges of the exhibits, and their unquestioned awards were as follows: - children's events writing under 12 .... Ada Heading spelling bee under 12 .... Ada Heading best starched and ironed white shirt.... Ada Heading The whole reflected great credit on the promoters - The Lorquon Society of Christian Endeavour with the Rev. T. J. Thomas at its head. A sum of 20 pound remained after paying expenses.
The Nhill Free Press, Thursday, July 25 1957 Mrs Ada May Hiscock, widow of the late Mr. Edwin Hiscock died at Portland last Tuesday. They lived in the Baker district and Mrs. Hiscock moved to Portland following the death of her husband some four years ago. Children are: - Winifred (Mrs. H. Leyonhjelm, Yanac), Rhoda (Mrs. Vincent, Bentleigh). Cliff (Hamilton), Tom (Baker), and Vera (Mrs. Walder, Portland). She was buried at Nhill this afternoon, following a service in the Church of England, conducted by the Rev. L. G. Kerdel.
