George Irvin Dick enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on the 4/3/1916, his wife Lucy Agnes Dick was his next of kin and her address is listed as 31 Pental Road, Caulfield. His certificate of medical examination of the 28/2/1916 describes George as being 27 years and eleven months , height - 5 feet 6 inches, weight - 128 lbs, chest measurement 33/35 inches, complexion - fair, eyes - blue, hair - light brown and religious denomination - Presbyterian. His distinctive marks were - Vacs 3 left arm.
George served mainly in France. On the 21/4/1919 he was admonished by Major J Miles and docked 1 days pay. He must have been very healthy as he didn’t require any hospitalisation the whole time he was away.
George returned to Australia on the “Borda” which was the same ship he embarked on when he went overseas. He was discharged on the 4/8/1919.
