Mr. Samuel Bevan, an old and much esteemed resident of Pyalong district, and a colonist of 52 years standing, died on Sunday last. The gentleman named had been in a delicate state of health for some years, and was 76 years of age. He was a kindly and straight-forward man whom to know was to respect and appreciate. Many friends in the Pyalong district will regret the loss of a good neighbour and an estimable citizen.

Will No. 1888.
This is the last Will and Testament of me Samuel Bevan of Pyalong Farm Pyalong near Kilmore in the Colony of Victoria Farmer I give devise and bequeath all the property of every kind which I may at the time of my death be seized possessed or entitled unto my Nephew John Bevan of Cotham Road, Kew in the said Colony of Victoria Warehouseman and William Hiscock of the Bulleen Road Kew aforesaid Tobacconist and my Daughter Ethel Emma Bevan (whom I hereby appoint executors and executrix of this my will) upon trust at their discretion to convert the whole or any part or parts of my said property into money and after payment of my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses to pay the annual income produced by my property to my Wife Emma Bevan so long as she shall live and remain my widow and should my said wife marry again I direct my said Executors and Executrix to pay her so long as she shall live an annuity of Fifty pounds as her separate Estate free from the debts power and control of her husband and subject to such annuity I direct that the remainder of the annual income produced by my property shall be paid to my daughter Ethel Emma Bevan so long as she shall live as her separate estate free from the debts power and control of any husband with whom she may intermarry And upon the death of my said daughter leaving a child or children who shall attain the said age of twenty one years I devise and bequeath all my property to such child or children in equal shares and should no child of my said daughter attain the said age of twenty one years I direct that all my said property shall be divided among my Nephews and Nieces in equal shares And I direct that any money payable to any grand daughter or Niece of mine under the trusts hereof shall be separate estate free from the debts power and control of any husband with whom she may intermarry. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty fifth day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and eighty eight.
Signed by the said Samuel Bevan the Testator and by him declared to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who in his sight and presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses.
