Charles Weaver Vessey enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 20/6.1915. On the Certificate of Medical examination he is described as being - 19 years and three months, height - 5 feet 8 inches, weight - 11 stone, chest measurement - 33/35 inches, complexion - fresh, eyes - blue, hair - brown and Religious Denomination - Baptist. His distinctive marks were - scar both legs. Charles served in Egypt and France. Charles was sent to hospital for tonsilitis on the 19/2/1916. He was promoted to Corporal on 21/8/1916. He was admitted on the 12/10/1916 wounded. Again admitted in February 1917 and March 1917 with conjunctivitis. He was wounded in action on 15/4/1917 and admitted with severe cheek and facial paralysis. Charles was discharged on 18/2/1918.
