Elizabeth Moxham arrived 16/4/50 on the "Elizabeth" the Moxhams already had relatives in Sydney. Her parents were Henry & Mary Ann Moxham (2nd cousin) from County Longford, close to County Cavan, both the Moxhams & Davis were Presbyterian. The Moxhams did very well in Oz once owning the Grace Bros building in Broadway, having 2 knights, 1 state MP & the mayor of Parramatta. They also had considerable land in Parramatta & nearby.
The Davis's did less well although Thomas Moxham Davis's was through his 1st wife Rebecca Pullen (died 1905) was the brother in law of James Stedman Henderson, the inventor of Minties, Jaffas & Fantales.
Thomas Moxham is my g/grandfather, my grandfather was Les Davis who married Nell Doull. Nell died in 1931 when my dad Arthur was 11, a horrible tragedy as Les Davis refused to call an ambulance. There were 6 boys under 13 in the depression & their father an alcoholic. Dad remembers Adelaide as they lived in Rosa St at the shop, Dad lived in the boatshed at the bottom of Rosa St after his mum died.
