Noted events in his life were:
• source. Mary-Ann Cook who writes: Ewan Corlette was a planter and businessman. He was also a cultured man, he gave helpful services to several scientific expeditions that worked in these parts. He spoke the Dirack`s language which he frequented. Corlette wrote in Pacific Island Monthly, in 1936-1938, about Harrisson`s book, Savage Civilization, and discussed with Reverend Notage on the medical role of the colonists. A young son of Corlette was murdered, in 1916, as was the trader Bridges and the Bridges children by the natives of Mallicolo. A large-scale punitive expedition was sent without result: they retired after having burned a village, the expedition fell in an ambush and six militiamen were killed and a sailor wounded; some of the food and ammunition was abandoned on the ground.
Ewan married Neta Ravaetari. (Neta Ravaetari was born circa 1890.)
