George Woodley was born at Blayney in 1851, and having finished his education became a carrier. After seven years he started farming and grazing pursuits at Newbridge, and in 1874 bought his present farm of nearly 600 acres near Dubbo. His principle business is butchering and dairying, and he has been most successful.

George married Sarah Jane Lewis, daughter of Joseph T. Lewis and Jane Noble, on 22 May 1873. (Sarah Jane Lewis was born in 1856 in Fitzgerald Valley, near Dubbo, NSW Australia and died on 3 May 1912 in Bathurst, NSW Australia.)
