mother (Simpson, Gladys Agnes) was born on 30 August 1916 and died on the 6th of December in 1952. 36 is too young - the same age as Lady Di and Marilyn Monroe. I was only 4. My memories of her give one a good guide to how well we remember our early lives. Walking to the bus stop with her, emptying the vacuum cleaner bag, seeing her collapse on the kitchen floor when she first took ill (brain tumour), she offering me milk in an egg cup, a glass and a mug because I stubbornly wouldn't drink it. Every time I hear the popular songs of 1950 51 and 52 I think of her very strongly because the radio must have been playing them at home while I was with her.
