I came across your site, www.thetreeofus.net, while googling "Thomas Baskerfield".

You have on your tree a lady by the name of Hannah Kingham, who had a son called Thomas Baskerfield Prudden.

I checked out Hannah on the 1841 and 1851 censuses and the IGI, and I see that John and Hannah appear to have had five children, at quite widely-spaced intervals, all of who are with Hannah in 1841. The first and third - Alfred and Thomas - both have "Baskerfield" as a middle name.

My interest is that my children's ancestors include the Baskerfields who were Wheelwrights and Blacksmiths in Woughton on the Green. I have recently been searching the Woughton Parish Register, so I looked up Hannah Kingham.

However, there are no instances of the surname Kingham in the Woughton Register, and there is no Hannah christened in 1796. However, on 14th May 1797, there is a christening for "Hannah illegitimate daughter of Catharine Baskerfield".

(A John Baskerfield was married to Catherine Johnston in 1778, and he died in January 1793. On 17th June 1794, "William, base born son of Catherine Baskerfield" was christened, followed by Hannah in 1797.)

It seems to me that "Hannah Kingham" is therefore possibly Hannah Baskerfield, and this may be supported by the use of Baskerfield for the children's middle names. I wondered if you might have any information on Hannah that would confirm or contradict this?

You may recall I wrote to you some time ago concerning the person you have down as Hannah Kingham, wife of John Prudden. I'm guessing from your website that Hannah is peripheral to your interests, but I thought I'd let you know anyway that I'm now confident that the wife of this John Prudden, ie the mother of Alfred 'Busterfield' Prudden, is in fact Hannah Baskerfield as I speculated previously.

The first point is that Hannah is consistent all the way up to 1871 that she was born in Woughton on the Green in about 1796/7, which fits Hannah Baskerfield perfectly.

The second is that Alfred was christened to John Prudden and Hannah on
07 Apr 1822 in Barton in the Clay, while the next sibling, Frederick, was christened to the same parents in Ampthill on 27 Apr 1824, and these seem to me to fit very well with the marriage between a John Prudden and Hannah Baskerfield at Ampthill on 01 Feb 1821.

There is indeed a John Prudden marrying a Hannah Kingham in Barton in the Clay on 16 May 1826, but if this were the correct marriage I would expect to see Alfred and Frederick (born before the marriage) christened with the surname Baskerfield and only Hannah named as parent.
