One of the lords of Barnston, John Clavell, built himself a substantial monument in his transept of Church Knowle church in 1572 and was buried there when he died in 1609 - he is with his two wives and there are brasses to all three on the monument.
He married secondly before 1573 to Elizabeth [Susan], daughter of Robert Coker of Mapowder (she died 1618, buried 2 Feb 1618 at "Knoll").

John married Myllicent Gifford, daughter of John Giffard and Elizabeth Throckmorton. (Myllicent Gifford was born in 1545 and died in Oct 1571 in Dorset, Somerset England.)
