Hiram arrived in Australia on 23.4.1838. His parents Samuel aged 27 yrs and Harriett, aged 25 were Bounty Immigrants from Sussex. They travelled on the "Duchess of Northumberland" with their 3 children, Hiram, 5yrs, Jane, 3yrs & Harriett, 1 yr. (Information from Ros Taylor) Occupation: Cob and Co coach Driver (AGN & Ros Taylor) It is unclear where Hiram and Catherine were living prior to the birth of their second child who's birth records tell us that the family were in Melbourne. It appears that they remained there until 1859 when their fourth child was born. By the time the 5th child came along in 1863 it appears that they had relocated to Forbes and by the birth of their 7th child in 1867, to Queensland. It was here that the remainder of their 13 children were born.
