The Chivertons came from Headley on the Downs above Epsom & Ashtead.

At All Saints, Headley in 1768 banns were read for the intended marriage of John Chiverton and Mary Clarke which seems not to have been celebrated, During 1769 they were repeated for him and Sarah Clarke, a presumed sister, who were wed on 13 August in that year.

On 30 January 1791 their son James Chiverton was baptised at Headley. He married at Ewell on 26 September 1813 Charlotte Dorton, spinster of the Parish, both were illiterate.

Their son James, junior, was baptised on 28 September 1834. He and his widowed mother Charlotte can be traced through Censuses for 1851 - 1861 and James 1871 -1901.

John married Sarah Clarke on 13 Aug 1769 in All Saints, Headley, Surrey England.⁷⁸³ (Sarah Clarke was born circa 1765.)
