  General Notes:

Marion Starr notes:
I am a Gough researcher and just completing a book about the life of James Gough who was Thomas' father and was living at Willow Grove in the early 1860s.

James Gough was born in 1790 in London not 1780, from the evidence recorded at his trial at the Old Bailey in 1812 and his convict indent for the transport Earl Spencer in 1813.

James Gough was a convict joiner and builder who arrived in 1813 aboard the transport ship Earl Spencer. On 26 January 1821, James Gough was granted a conditional pardon having served nine years of his life sentence. He was now free within the colony but could not return to England.

James married.
