The Courier-Mail of 29 Sep 1948 has a photo of James Tom holding "his grandson William John Glasson" at his 95th birthday party in Brisbane.\emdash http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article49921606 The above article says Jim Tom arrived in Qld in 1891 and was overseer on a number of sheep runs until his retirement to Brisbane in 1927. The article says Jim attended Newington College, Sydney. Oral family history says he was dux of the college.
