  General Notes:

THOMAS KITE
Thomas Kite was born in England and was sentenced in 1813 to transportation for life to the colony of New South Wales - his crime was theft. Together with William Lee, Thomas was also chosen by Governor Macquarie in 1818 as one of the ten men to be granted land at Kelso. So that he could take up this land, the Governor gave him a pardon. No doubt, both Thomas and William would have become good friends in their early days at Kelso, well before they became related through the marriage of their children.
Thomas married Sarah Bayliss in 1820. Their family consisted of nine children with Emily being the youngest child. As with William Lee, Thomas went on to own further properties in the Bathurst area and elsewhere in New South Wales - he even owned land in the centre of Sydney.
By the time Thomas died in 1876 he had become one of the biggest landowners in the colony as well as one of the wealthiest - not bad for an ex-convict!

James Bray died at Thomas's home 170 Pitt St. Bathurst. James and Thomas were married to sisters.

Thomas married Sarah Baylis, daughter of Joseph Baylis and Ann Taylor, on 26 Dec 1820 in Castlereagh, NSW Australia. (Sarah Baylis was born in 1804 and died in 1824.)
