Thomas and Sarah Brown arrived in Australia April 26,1838. Thomas was a prize-fighter in England, and he also received his first strong religious impressions when he met John Wheatley in the old land.
Thomas married Sarah on April 26,1831, but the young couple did not succeed in really settling down and ultimately they and their young family of three children decided to seek their fortune in Australia.they left their home in the Parish of Buxted, Sussex, on November 13,1837 and embarked at Gravesend the next day on the ship Duchess of Northumberland. John Wheatley and William Brown and Family also came to Australia the same time, The Book I Have also mentions a friend of Thomas Brown,called Thomas Southwell who settled at Parkwood near Queanbeyan about the same time.
