  General Notes:

Electoral Rolls 1913, 1916, 1930, 1936 - farmer at Wattamondara

Cowra Free Press 16 January 1920:
Mr Dan Gleeson is a much disappointed man, the reason being the poor yielding of his wheat crop, which, prior to the headers entering same was confidently expected to yield from 8 to 10 bags to the acre. Theseanticipations were dashed to the ground, for the crop in question, oncompletion of harvesting operations, was found to have returned onlya shade over four bags to the acre. The cause is a mystery to the owner, who puts it down as sheer hard luck.

Cowra Free Press 2 May 1930:
Mr Sam Francis' greyhound, which is being run in Sydney by Mr Dan Gleeson, won two heats in the richly endowed event, The Oaks.

Cowra Free Press 16 May 1930:
Congratulations to Mr D Gleeson, whose coursing dog, Sinceritas, was successful at Grenfell meeting last week.

Cowra Free Press 18 July 1930:
Father's Footsteps, a dog owned by Mr D Gleeson (Wattamondara) and MrAF Bourne (Mudgee), won the rich Sires Produce Stakes at Geelong, Victoria, worth 350pounds and gold rose bowl. In addition, his connections are reported to have won quite a nice little parcel of money in bets. It was a really fine performance, as 80 of the best hounds in the country competed.......... This champion puppy was reared by Mr Gleesonon his Wattamondara property, and was sent away a few months ago to be trained by his joint owner, who was a one time resident of Koorawatha. We congratulate Mr Gleeson upon his success and hope he will have the pleasure of many more of his greyhounds annexing valuable stakes.

Cowra Free Press 22 July 1930:
The locally bred greyhound, 'Father's Footsteps', added further to his laurels recently by annexing the 'Melbourne Cup' of the coursing world, the Waterloo Cup. We hope to give further details of the latest triumph of this remarkably fine dog at an early date. Mr Dan Gleeson, who had sole charge of 'Father's Footsteps' in the early part of his career, is naturally very proud of his performances.

Cowra Free Press 1 July 1932:
I am informed that Mr Dan Gleeson was a successful competitor with his well known dogs at the coursing meeting recently conducted at Temora.

Cowra Free Press 16 July 1932:
Mr Dan Gleeson is at present an inmate of Cowra Hospital which he entered on Tuesday, for the purpose of undergoing on operation for the removal of an abscess in the throat. The operation in question was successfully performed on Wednesday. Wattamondara as a body wish our popular townsman a speedy recovery.

Sydney Morning Herald 30 December 1965: of 15 St Johns Road, Glebe, late of Cowra ..... buried at the Catholic Cemetery, Rookwood.
