My branch of the Gordon family came from the area around Kircudbright, Scotland.
My GGGGrandfather Samuel Gordon arrive in Australia in 1853 to go make his fortune as a trader on the Victorian gold fields.
He died in 1856 and his 16 year old son left his mother and brothers and sisters behind in Liverpool England settle his fathers affairs.
He settled in the Hillston area of NSW. The rest of the family except for his mother followed their brother but settled in Victoria.
