Research Notes:
Vicki Callanan notes: My grandfather (William) Percy Ralph worked for General George Jamison Johnston at their furniture shop in Gertrude Street, a Fitzroy, from his early teens, initially as a jockey on their delivery days, then as the company mechanic. He worked with Alfred (Freddie) and Roy, with whom he was particularly friendly with. when G. J. Johnston retired from the military my grandfather often worked as his driver, locally and interstate, for holidays. He also drove the General's hearse at his large military funeral.
It was not until after the General's death that my grandfather looked for alternative employment due to tension with one son Freddie. There was also a daughter to George Johnson and Margaret Hobson; Gwen born c1904(married Kenneth Moore).
I would like to find out if there are any relatives of the children of George and Margaret Johnston that are interested in their history as it is so entangled with my Grandfather's. I have not been able to establish if there are any current living relatives.

George married Margaret Hobson, daughter of Charles Perry Hobson and Miriam Kate Delves. (Margaret Hobson was born in 1875 and died in 1910.)
