   Cause of his death was Metastic adenocarcinoma of rectum.

  General Notes:

Vincent and Lucy lived in Macquarie Street Liverpool next to Grimsons Timb er Yard and about 100 yars from the John Edmondson VC Memorial Club. Vince nt was one of the founding members and often served behind the bar when t he were first established.
Vincent and Lucy moved to 10 McGowan Crescent. As at 23/5/2009 the hou se is stilled owned by a Murphy - John Murphy's daughter Gail Murphy.

Vincent saw service with the 2/1 Anti Aircraft Regiment. Whilst servi ng in Darwin his gun opened fire on an unidentified aircraft and shot it d own. The pilot survived - he was an Australian. When he complained about b eing shot down he was reminded that he was in a 'no fly zone' contra ry to orders and was liable to be catarrhal. He went very quite.

On return to Australia Vincent visited his Aunt Sister Bebe Murphy. Sti ll wearing his AIF uniform Vincent was ushered into the Liverpool Conven ts parlor and sat down. All the nuns then came in and gathered around hi m. Sister Bede is reported to have asked him as 'How many Jap's did you ki ll!' He had to reply that he had not knowingly killed any Japs. Ther was g reat disappointment amongst the Nuns!

After his beloved Lucy died he had her cremated. He kept the urn containi ng her ashed in the glove box of his car and took her with him everywher e. When he gave a friend a lift home one day the friend found Lucy's ur n. Vinvent put her on the back seat where she remained for many years unti ll he finally buried her ashed in the garden of 10 McGowen Crescent.
