• Adoption. 199 Hi, I have been trying to find Graham Leslie Firkin who was born around 1952 . He had a message on the Ancestry site back in 2010 mentioning he was the son of Mary Josephine Barnes but his email address didn't work. I was adopted and have a close cousin (1st - 2nd cousin) according to Ancestry DNA whose name is Christine (nee Barnes). She was raised by her grandparents. In her tree she has the same biological ancestors as those mentioned by Graham Firkin. Christine believes her mother was Mavis Barnes (unmarried) whose parents were William Barnes & Gladys McCotter. William was the son of Edwin Theodore Barnes & Mary Josephine Adams. William had a brother Cecil Barnes who married Nellie May Walsh & these are names mentioned in the message post by Graham Firkin. I have been researching these names lately to try to find how I connect to Christine (possibly through our fathers) but would love to be contacted by Graham so I can check my research. If these names sound familiar to Graham I can confirm that Mary Josephine Barnes did marry Thomas Quinn in 1940 and Norman Graham Longshaw was originally married to Ivy Alice Nicholls but they divorced in 1941. According to the RAAF service records of Norman Longshaw he was having domestic problems and was discharged in 1942.The war records mentioned he had 2 children possibly between 1939 and 1941… I can fill Graham in on some details but I don't know the names of any of their children. It looks like Mary Josephine Barnes used the surname Longshaw as this is on her death certificate… but I can't find a marriage record. She died aged 63 in Campbelltown in 1983. Can you please pass on my email to Graham if you have his new email address so he can see if I am contacting the right person. Christine & I were both born in Sydney. regards, Susan Roberts (retired teacher)
