In 1851 Benjamin was living with wife Lydia and daughter Rosetta aged 8 months at Clapgate Hertfordshire, age 20, a shepherd. It was from here he finally decided to come to Australia his brother, Thomas having come out earlier. Benjamin Emigrated to Australia with wife and children Rosetta 5yrs and Isabella 2yrs arriving Sydney on the "Constitution" on 25 May 1855. After Benjamin arrived, he worked at the Parramatta Railway Terminus at the site of the new Railway Platform being constructed. Benjamin and Lydia's first son, William was born here at the Railway Terminus in 1856. From here Benjamin and Lydia and there family travelled down to Victoria where Benjamin worked as a Miner at Forest Creek which is near Bendigo, a Goldmining and his brother Thomas was also there. There fourth child, a daughter was born here in November 1858.
They left Victoria with their family and moved back to NSW where Benjamin in obtained work at Camden a settlement south of Sydney as a farm labourer on the Macarthur Property. From here they move to Macquarie Plains at O'Connell where Benjamin farmed and set up a Fruiterer business. At some stage after moving here opened a Shop in Lithgow where Lydia worked while Benjamin probably continued to grow produce for it. They later in their senior years moved to Sydney possibly early 1900, to live there until they died at their residence at 39 Farr Street Marrickville Sydney. Lydia died first and would have celebrated 65 years of marriage with Benjamin in the month of October before her death in the following December.
