Mr. John Goes was born at Helenville, Wis. , November 15, 1855 and died at his home in the town of Farmington on Friday, October 17, 1919. On February 5, 1917, he suffered a stroke of paralysis, while on his way to the creamery, and ever since that time was confined to his home. For the last eight weeks he was perfectly helpless and was unable to talk. Everything possible was done to bring back his speech but without success.
Mr. Goes was married May 6th, 1881, to Katharina Puchta of Jefferson. The first seven years they lived in this city where Mr. Goes worked in the brick yard. They then moved to the homestead in the town of Farmington where he remained until his death. Their union was blessed with five children. One son died at the age of 10 months.
Those left to mourn are his widow; two sons, Otto and Henry, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Edward E. Bienfang of Jefferson Junction and Mrs. Ben Bergholz; three grandchildren, Ethel, Evelyn and Elvira Bienfang; five brothers, August of Saginaw, Mich., Michael of Milwaukee, Leonard and Henry from here and George of Montana. One sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Goes was a faithful husband and beloved father and will be missed by his family and his many friends.
The funeral took place last Sunday at two o'clock at the Lutheran Church east of this city and the body was to rest in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. H. K. Moussa officiated.
