Noted events in his life were: • source. Ancestry via Peter Found and John Montgomery • Occupation. boat builder who served his apprenticeship at a Balmain boatbuilding yard owned by John Robinson. From 1935 to 1936 he wored at Frederick Rose at Mascot Sydney building surf skis under the name of Sporting Boats and Caravans. Then from 1936 to 1939 he built surf skis for a person called Jack Toy and hired them out at Manly and Freshwater Beach, Sydney until 1939. Then from 1939 until 1942 he wored in the Boatshed at Garden Island Naval Dockyard. Then he transferred to Greenpoint Shipbuilding and Engineering Pty Ltd at Mortlake on the Parramatta River in Sydney until about 1958. Then he became a wharf labourer until he retired at the age of 65. He built surf skis at home from 1946 until about 1970. • Residence. As a child and teenager Herbert lived at 35 and 37 Waterview Street Balmain, Sydney and at 55 Louisa Road Birchgrove, Sydney, Australia. After his marriage they both lived in a flat near Gladstone Park Balmain and then soon after moved to 47 Roseberry Street Balmain until Aug 1959. Then they moved to 175 Ryde Road Gladesville, Sydney. Herbert married Ivy Ethel Litto, daughter of Alfred Ernest Litto and Edith Elizabeth Kemp, on 2 Dec 1933 in St Johns, Balmain North or Birchgrove, Sydney, NSW Australia.
