Note: Served 10 years 172 days with the first battalion of the 31st Regiment of Foot. Discharged 15th March 1815 as unfit for service due to "being nearly blind" with Opthalmia - sun-blindness. His miltary record (PRO W097 499) describes him in 1815 as 31 years old 5ft 7.1/2 inches tall, dark hair, dark eyes, sallow complexion, sawyer.
