Harold enlisted with the A.I.F. on the 20th March 1916 in Sydney. He is described as
5ft 7 1/2 inc. 126 lbs with a Fair complexion, Blue eyes and Brown hair. Harold saw
service in France where he was wounded in action (gassed) in April 1918. He was then
dispatched to the UK and admitted to the Middlesex War Hospital on the 2nd May
1918
