Cecil enlisted with the A.I.F. on the 15th February 1915 at Sydney. He is described as
5ft 4 3/4 inc. 120 lbs with a Fair complexion, Grey eyes and Brown hair.
A notation on his record - "War Office list dated 28th August 1919 Brought to the
attention of Secretary of State for War for valuable services rendered in connection with
War. Entry received subsequent to despatch." Cecil was promoted to Staff
Quatermaster Sergeant on the 18th July 1918
