Perhaps this was the John Lee who was convicted on 22 February 1789 at Manchester, Lancashire, England and was sentenced to transportation for seven years 'beyond sea'. He was one of 31 convicts who departed England on 15 Mar 1791 and arrived on the ship HMS 'Gorgon' at Sydney Cove, Australia on 21 Sep 1791.
