Colin was born on 30 April 1911 at Belvidere . He had auburn hair and was known as Bluey all his life. Some of his friends only found out his real name at his funeral. He served as Private SX 3587 as stretcher bearer in the 2/6 Field Ambulance in Egypt , Syria and on the Kokoda Track New Guinea 1944. Entrained 28/12/40 and embarked 29/12/40. As with many men coming back from war Colin experienced post traumatic stress. From some 471 men in his unit there were only three left marching in the 2007 Anzac Day March. Colin married Jean Moar on 21 August 1943 at Methodist Church Colonel Light Gardens . Colin and Jean lived at Strathalbyn, Victor Harbor , Netley and Blair Athol. They moved to Blair Athol in September 1959. Colin spent his last years at Cobdogla near Barmera South Australia where he spent his time fishing and sauce making, until ill health brought him back to Adelaide where he lived between the houses of his daughters Suzanne and Cheryl who looked after him. Colin suffered Diabetes and Heart Disease. Colin died 12 October 1988 at the Repatriation Hospital at Daw Park from a Heart Attack.

Colin married Jean Isabel Moar, daughter of Lewis Harvey Moar and Hazel Nellie Milhinch, on 21 Aug 1943 in Methodist Church, Colonel Light Gardens, South Australia. (Jean Isabel Moar was born on 23 Oct 1924 in Laura, South Australia and died on 23 May 1969 in Blair Athol, South Australia.)
