Jeremiah was convicted at the Norfolk Assizes on 19 March 1833 and sentenced to transportation for life. He arrived in NSW on the transport, 'Aurora', on 3 November 1833 and was immediately assigned to work at the property of James McLeay(son of the Colonial Secretary Alexander McLeay) on the Burrill River near Ulladulla. He was granted a conditional pardon in 1848.
