  General Notes:

James worked as a station hand on sheep stations around Walcha and the Northern Tablelands area. He came to Newcastle in the early 1880's with his wife and father and lived at Holmesville near West Wallsend.

James worked as a coalminer around the West Wallsend area. Whe nthe mined around that area were worked out or closed down the South Maitland coalfields were opening up and james moved to Heddon Greta.

He worked as a coalminer in various mines around Heddon Greta and Kurri Kurri. He and his family squatted on an open paddock near Adam St about 1903 and built a slab type cottage on the site. many of the children were born there.

(Rachel Emma O'Brien was born on 12 Jul 1868 in "Bogamildi" Station, Warialda, NSW Australia, died on 25 Jul 1943 in Stockton Mental Hospital, Newcastle, NSW Australia and was buried on 27 Jul 1943 in Kurri Kurri Cemetery, NSW Australia Presbyterian Section.)
