John McLean Duncan was given the green "birthday book" on his 11th birthday, 5 November 1909 by his Grandma, Cora Hannah Callaghan, and his Auntie Katie. John McLean Duncan was involved in the creation of Guildford Bowling Club. He was a plumber for many years, rising through the Sydney Water Board and becoming an inspector and teacher in Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong.
