I am persuaded that John Nowlan married Marian Grant, the daughter of James & Mary Grant (b. 1852 at Mt. Macquarie). Unfortunately, The NSWBDM record John as marrying "Mary Ann" Grant.

Mary married John Nowlan in 1874 in Carcoar, NSW Australia. (John Nowlan was born circa 1850.)
