Lorna Morrill is the grandaughter of James Morrill who survived the shipwreck of the Peruvian a barque of 304 tons in 1846 on Minerva Shoals off the coast of Queensland. James Morrill was among the few survivors who reached the mainland on a raft. They lived for about six months with the aboriginal tribe at Cape Cleveland and then were split up with James Morrill being 'given' to the Bindal tribe who ranged the area from Townsville to Bowen. James rejoined white society after 17 years when he was discovered near Bowen in 1863.


Lorna married Albert Edward Gray, son of John Gray and Emma Esther Butler. (Albert Edward Gray was born on 21 Aug 1887 in Townsville, Queensland Australia and died on 9 Jul 1950 in Townsville, Queensland Australia.)
