I have been researching the family history of both myself and my husband for a number of years. It is about my husbands family that I write to you. His Great Great Great Grandfather was transported to Tasmania from Leicester in 1848, he left a wife and 4 children, with another on the way, at home. I thought that was all the information that I would ever gather about him but just recently noticed that the Tasmania Convict details have been updated and I now find that after release he married in New South Wales. No details are held on the Tasmania site re the wife he left behind in England other than he was already married but details of his new wife are on that site. I daresay he had no means of returning to the UK so settled in NSW.

I have spent hours trying to trace his descendants in NSW and have not been too lucky but have today googled Augusta Wilson, wife of James Sidney Wilson and have come across your website. You do not appear to have any details of Augusta Wilson so I thought you may like to know that she has living relatives in England although they are descended from the wife he left behind in 1848. After looking at your site it seems the convict has numerous descendants in Australia but not too many in England.
