Ellen or Helen Goodyear was born 18 th nov 1849 in Edinburgh Scotland

She arrived nsw 17 th January 1849 on the 'Thomas Arbuthnot' Helen was a single assisted migrant, age 22, occupation housemaid, religion Presbyterian - her parents were still alive in Edinburgh - she could read and write.
On 14 th Jan 1850 marked a but her William Crampton who died 19 th July 1850

She then married James McGowan on 16 th September, 1850 at singleton.

Helen McGowan died at howel new near Inverell in April 1903 at the house of a daughter and is buried in inverell cemetery

Mary Ann McGowan is my great grandmother, who married Charles blakefield Scott on 29 th june 1872 at Presbyterian church singleton.

They had 11 children

Charles blakefield Scott died at north Sydney on 3 red June 1927 at north Sydney.

Mary Ann Scott nee McGowan died at a private hospital after being in a nursing home in north Sydney on 14 th July 1930 she suffered from diabetes type one for years


Helen married James Hugh McGowan on 16 Sep 1850 in Singleton, NSW Australia. (James Hugh McGowan was born in 1814 in Longford, Ireland UK, died on 4 Apr 1873 in Darling Harbour, Sydney, NSW Australia and was buried in Haslems Creek Cemetery, Sydney, NSW Australia.)
