James married Rachel McCaughey, daughter of William McCaughey and Margaret Forsythe, on 17 Aug 1863 in Kiama, NSW Australia. (Rachel McCaughey was born in 1833 in Ahoghill, County Antrim Ireland and died in 1909 in Lismore, NSW Australia.)
