  Noted events in her life were:

• fact. Through the Act of Settlement 1701, an Act of the Westminster Parliament which sought to suspend the normal laws of inheritance to the English and Scots thrones, Sophia was declared the heiress presumtive to her first cousin once removed, Queen Anne of England, Scotland and Ireland(later Queen of Great Britain and Ireland). She would have acceded to Anne's crown, had she not died a few weeks before Anne did. On Sophia's death, her son George Louis, Elector of Hanover and Duke of Brunswick Luneberg, became heir presumptive. On Queen Anne's death, he became King George I of England.


Sophia married Ernst Augustus Elector of Hanover Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg in 1658. (Ernst Augustus Elector of Hanover Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg was born on 20 Nov 1629 in Herzberg am Harz, Germany and died on 23 Jan 1698 in Herrenhausen, near Hannover Germany.)
