James Evans

  • Born: 10 Mar 1775, Cripplegate Within London, Middlesex England
  • Marriage (1): Elizabeth Dean
  • Died: 17 Feb 1832, Prince St, Sydney, NSW Australia at age 56

  General Notes:

James Evan's crime was commited in Devonshire Place Marylebone London and when approached he tried to get away by running but was caught at the intersections of Welback St. and Bulstrode.
To my way of thinking this is more proof of the birthplace of James asthese two streets are only about two and a half miles from where helived at Cripplegate.

More proof was that James and Elizabeth Dean had a child named Margaret unfortunately their child died soon after but I believe that James named his child after either his sister Margaret or possible hismother also named Margaret.

Elizabeth Dean had been married to Anthony Bryant [Brion etc] but had left him for James Evans, she had never married James but was buried under the name of Elizabeth Evans in 1829 at Devonshire St.
James arrived on the "PITT" 14/2/1792.This ship was part of the fourth fleet.

There is a lot of speculation on James Evans and his heritage but it can be altered as proof is uncovered.

Noted events in his life were:

• Baptism, 10 Mar 1776, St Giles Church Of England, Cripplegate, Without London, England.

James married Elizabeth Dean, daughter of William Dean(e) and Ann Thomas. (Elizabeth Dean was born on 8 Mar 1765 in Austrey, Warwickshire England and died on 28 Dec 1829 in Sydney, NSW Australia.)
