Mellie was probaby Ellen Caroline, perhaps known as Nellie, and this is a transcription error.

Ellen married James Adkins on 14 Apr 1900 in Ashwell, Hertfordshire England. (James Adkins was born between Jan 1876 and Mar 1876 in Ashwell, Hertfordshire England and died between Oct 1943 and Dec 1943 in Hitchin and Stevenage district, Hertfordshire England.)
