Grandson C.J. Webster's hand written account is that he served in peninsular war 1803, as "officers attendant" to Edward Chandos-Pole of Radbourne Hall, Derbyshire. Allthough wounded himself, saved his masters life by carrying him through fire to safety. He was rewarded on his return by being made gamekeeper to the Radbourne estate. This does not show up on any census.
