Janet WRIGHT, b. 1789 in Aberdeenshire Scotland, d. 21 Feb 1828 in 22 Phillip street Sydney NSW Aus., buried 23 Feb 1828 in Devonshire St. (Sandhills) cemetary, Sydney NSW Aus. Janet's age was stated ti be "about 40" on her burial record. The Sandhills cemetary (Devonshire street cemetary - where Central arilway stands today) had been open for burialsin 1819 as the Sydney Town hall site was to be closed to burials in 1820. Exhumations were supposed to have taken place but a recent (2007) archeological dig at the Town Hall site has found that many of the coffins etc. were never shifted.
When George Watson Jnr's wife, Florence died in 1851she was also buried at the Sandhills cemetary. He placed a headstone for his wife and added his mothers details as well. This headstone was removed to Bunnerong cemetary and today is a Pioneer Memorial park.

December 5, Mary Brown, per'Morley', her servant (Reel 6064;4/1789 p.22 - This record is a memorial"Praying the Governor's permission to have their names published in church in order to their being married - Sydney 5 December 1825".


Janet married George Watson, son of William Watson and Margaret Harrow, on 9 Jul 1814 in St Nicholas Presbyterian, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire Scotland.
