Sophia Bettle b: (26:8:1832 @ Cranfield Bedfordshire) married Thomas Alfred Coombs (b: 1830 @ Uxbridge Middlesex), and immediately immigrated to Australia. Their eldest child Louisa C Coombs was born on board the ship enroute to Morton Bay Qld. Louisa had 8 siblings (Names can be supplied if interested).
Sophia died 1:5:1896 at Bundarra NSW. There doesn't seem to be any record of Thomas' death - anywhere!
Louisa (birth registered at the next port ie Morton Bay) was born in 1855 and married on 5^th April, 1879 at Inverell, NSW. She married Henry John Budden (born on 24^th January 1830 in Wiltshire), who had immigrated with his parents (George Budden and Martha Kelloway) and 4 of George's siblings in 1838 to Australia (I have details of their ancestors )- George and family had immigrated to work as farmers in Muswellbrook NSW - I imagine poverty was the primary reason for the immigration of almost an entire family).
Henry and Louisa had 8 children, amongst whom was my grandmother Louisa Maud Budden (born: 26:9:1988 at Tingha NSW). Henry died 29^th September 1900 in Muswellbrook when my grandmother was 12, and she and two younger siblings were placed in an ophanage, even though my ggrandmother lived for another 19 years and there seemed to be a number of aunts and uncles around. Louisa C died 12^th July 1919 in Tingha.
Louisa Maud married Elga Louis Hermann Dettmann (b: 10^th April 1888 in Beechworth, Victoria, died 18^th August, 1967 in Tingha) - he was a fairly well known and popular miner/JP etc in Tingha. They had 10 children, one of whom was my mother, Freda Maude Dettmann (born 12^th April, 1921 at Tingha, died 12^th August, 1995 in Budgewoi). Freda married Alexander Robert Woods (born: 21^st July, 1945 @ Balmain, died 16^th December, 1996) who was a Chief Inspector of police. They had 6 children, 5 of whom survive and one of whom am I- Meredith Dorn Woods born: 1^st August, 1958, and obviously, I'm still around.
I married Robert Schetrumpf (born: 27^th February 1954, died: 29^th March 1994) and we had one daughter, Tegan Jane Schetrumpf, born: 3^rd April, 1986. Tegan is not married and is a Medical Scientist.
