James Bow

James who is listed in the 1673 Hearth Tax in Marrick - the only Bow menti oned in the area. (Kathleen Bowe)

I've just found a reference in one of the NYCRO JOURNALS 3 p79 stating th at "in the reign of Elizabeth the German lessees of the Keswick mines, HOC HSTETTER & THURLAND, were granted the right to search for copper in Yorksh ire." The first of these surnames is very similar to Wilfred Houghotter, f or whom James Bowe was executer and witness to his will in Nov 1585. Cou ld it even be the same man? Might James have come with him from Keswick?

James married Alyson Becke on 13 May 1582 in West Witton, Yorkshire England. (Alyson Becke was born circa 1565.)
