Michael McCarty arranged remittance regulator-depositor for Rebecca's brother, Joseph Benjamin Dawson and his spouse with family to return to Australia and join the other Dawson Clan. He made this payment, he would say, as his wife's dowry, for marriage to Rebecca Hare Dawson, which she said he paid in full. They married November 14, 1853.

Michael married Rebecca Hare Dawson, daughter of Thomas William Dawson and Anne Elizabeth (Betsy) Hare, on 14 Nov 1853.⁵¹⁵ (Rebecca Hare Dawson was born circa 1829 in Renhold, Bedfordshire England ⁵¹⁵, christened on 10 Feb 1829 and died in 1916 in Emmaville, NSW Australia.)
