John Lang migrated to Australia with his wife Agnes aboard the ship "Ghengis Khan". The ship sailed from Liverpool, London on 25/3/1853 & arrived in Melbourne on 1/7/1853. Records show that he was to work for a Mr Campbell of Richmond, Melbourne Vic for 312 pounds a year - without rations. There was no time limit on his employment. He could read & write. His wife, Agnes, could also read & write. He was a stonemason by profession. Maryborough Hospital records show that he was admitted to hospital on 7 Jan 1870 & was there until he died 10 jun 1870. Cause unknown.


John married Agnes Riddet, daughter of John Riddet and Marion Barclay, on 6 Jul 1852 in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire Scotland. (Agnes Riddet was born in 1826 in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire Scotland and died in 1909 in "Kilbirnie", Wellington, NSW Australia.)
