In 1818, Charles was awarded the Silver Isis medal for an original miniature by the society of Arts. Exhibited at the R.A from 1820-1853. In 1820-1821 lived in the Isle of Wight. Paintings include, Sir Henry Franks Frederick Johnson, 3rd Baronet of Bath, and other members of the Johnson family. Miniature of Ethel Burgess in 1839. Works can be seen at the Victoria and Albert Museum Charles married Ann Thomas, daughter of William Thomas and Susannah, on 16 Sep 1828 in Melcombe Regis, Dorset England.
