On the ancestry site the same details are recorded for Hubert Jones as marrying Elsie Floud in 1923 and Elsie Chance in 1927 although the latter was in Wales not Birmingham.

My Godmother saw him at funerals and was unaware of any second marriage, although not impossible.

To give you a little background whilst doing some research on my own family I came upon a family tree which is owned by Janet Taylor who is my God sister and now a naturalised American citizen and has done this for my mother Margaret Comley (1930-2011) a kind gesture I thought.

She has Hubert's wife as Elsie Flound and no further information; I was aware of the Hastilow connection and they didn't move very far away; Minworth; Erdington;Tamworth. Emma Hastilow was having children for 23 years the same as her mother with a break between 1915-1920 WW1 I assume? 15 children with 13 surviving.

My only sibling Simon Hoban(1957-2011) was a novelist and penned himself Simon Charles Hastilow Hoban although the Hastilow is poetic.

There is an archivist and historian in Birmingham whos' family tree is Le Mercier-Hogan-Le Breton;Geoff Hogan, he has Hubert in his tree and Floud is a name that has connections to the Channel Islands, although many of his ancestors are either buried in Witton or Yardley Cemetry in Birmingham.

2 marriage records exist for Hubert Jones 1923 & 1927. Floud is named as the spouse for the first one but I can not find a birth record for her. The second is Chance which is the link with yourself and obviously you know her details; further the 3 children all have their Mother's name recorded as Chance. Which would suggest that Chance is certainly the final if not the only spouse. The marriage venue is Caerphily and that intriques me because I think his career placed him in and around the Midlands and the children were born in Warwickshire.

Hubert next married Elsie Lilian Chance, daughter of John Robert Chance and Pamela Adelaide Cartwright, in Dec 1927 in Bedwelty, Caerphilly, Wales, UK. (Elsie Lilian Chance was born in Sep 1904 in Stourbridge, Worcestershire England, christened on 17 Oct 1904 in Christ Church, Quarry Bank, Brierley Hill, Dudley, South Yorkshire England and died in 1978 in Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire England.)
