My father came from Portsmouth but my mother's parents both came from Bedfordshire. She was a Braybrook (her father had dropped the s) and George Braybrooks was my great great grandfather.
George Braybrooks' parents were William and Eliza Ward. George was quite a character. I saw a newspaper cutting from 1878 on Monday in which he was jailed for 9 months hard labour for wounding his wife Charlotte (Ashwell). He had previous form as well and was in a prision in Kent at the time of the 1881 census.
