  • Born: 1740, England UK
  • Marriage (1): John (Jean) Luya

Noted events in her life were:

• source. Jennifer Stubbs @ genes who notes:
Judith Brown was most likely anglicised from Judith De Buus de Besancon. Besancon is a place in France. Went there last year. In the Huguenot records it is written that way but assume it means from Besancon and should not have been added in as part of her name.
See this bit of info I gathered:
Mariage cert says her surname is BROWN; but:
According to the French Hospital she may have actually been Judith Durandeau and her mother Louise de Buus de Besancon. [from: Martine Saunders Jan 2004]
Considering that Judith is illiterate and would not be able to write her surname, it is not surprising that her suranme is given as "Brown" on her marriage , du Buus does sound a little like 'brown', or mayhap it is an 'Anglisation' of her French surname.
